Hello everyone, So I just bought my first Macbook ever! Its a macbook pro 15 inch 2015 with 2.8 Ghz processor. I am Computer Science student on my 3rd and last year so I need to use my computer for programming. I think Parallels is a good option for me as I will probably need to use Ubuntu and Windows. I just don't understand what should I do in order to install Windows, I am willing to pay for the Parallels license but paying for a windows license it a bit to much for me. I have a dell laptop which has Windows 7 installed on it but as I checked that doesn't really help me in order to get it on my macbook parallels (or upgrade to Windows 10) does it? what do most of you guys do? Thanks for the help, Jon
This is exclusively a licensing issue, Parallels cannot distribute Windows licenses. Yes, you need a separate Windows license. OEM licenses, which is likely what your Dell laptop has, are not transferable. You might try to jump in the Windows 10 insider program.
