External USB connected numberpad

I am having ongoing issues with an external numberpad connected through the USB port, when I am operating in MAC excel, enter information using the external numberpad and then return to Parallels running an accounting program, the external will not work. It worked fine in XP but after upgrading to windows 7, the numberpad has ceased to work unless I check the keypad in the \Device\external device drop down menu. Then, when I go back to MAC, the numberpad will not work unless I go back to Parallels and uncheck the numberpad.

Any help would be appreciated, I have already re-installed tools.

Start your Windows Virtual Machine, Go to Devices ( top menu ) > select External devices > Click Keyboard > Click "Numlock" once ( Turn ON ) and check how it goes.
