Ok, so you have expanded your hard drive with the image tool and now, even though Parallels Workstation thinks that your hard drive is 10 gigs, from within Windows, your C drive is still only 4 gigs.

You do have the extra hard drive space, but Windows doesn't see it as part of your C drive. It is just sitting out there as unpartitioned space.

There are solutions out there for screwing around with your partitions to get all the extra space into your C drive. But, I am here to tell you that you don't need to.

It is a very simple matter to format that unpartitioned space as a new drive. Make it your D drive or your E drive. You can save data or install files on that drive as easily as you would on your C drive. Just like having multiple partitions on a Mac. There is no harm in having the new space as a separate drive.

Here are the instructions for Win XP. Haven't used 2K in a while, but I think it's pretty close to the same.

Quite simple, go to "Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management"

In Computer Management, click on Disk Management. If you want to make your new space your D drive (which would be normal) then click on the CD/DVD drive with the right mouse button (or control click) and change the drive letter to E. Then you can right click on the unformatted space and make it a partition that will be your D drive.

    It's fairly simple and straightforward.

Once that is done you can start saving data or installing programs on that D drive. I created a "Program Files" folder on the D drive, so that when I do any software installs, I just have to change C to D and I am all set.

Thanks to the Parallels team for such a great program. I pre-ordered mine a few days ago.
