My iMac's internal hard drive recently failed, and we had it replaced with a new SSD drive.

Luckily we had a backup of the .pvm file just a few days old.

We put the .pvm file onto the new SSD along with the rest of the old Mac files from a Time Machine backup.

Starting the Virtual Machine however gives the error "Cannot connect to Hard Disk 0", and shows the windows black and white boot screen behind it. After a few seconds a 2nd error appears "There is no Operating System Installed on this Virtual Machine"...

Tried re-installing Parallels 10, but just get the same error message. In Hardware settings the Hard Disk "Connected" check box is un-ticked, tried checking it but it just un-checks itself after another boot up.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    hi Nick,
I guess that your backup is missing some VM hard disk related files. to confirm I need to take a look at problem report. Please generate one and send its ID number
