When trying to get the WM to install my version of Win XP Pro I get the error message ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded, Error Code 7. Now, according to MSFT the way to solve that is to push F7 when when you see Press F6 to load SCSI/Raid Drivers on the installation screen you press F7 to bypass ACPI (Advanced Configuration and PowerInterface) detection. But when I try to do that on my MacBook Pro nothing happens. I don't seem to be able to use the Function keys at all in the VM. Regardless if I click the Window or not. So right now I'm not getting any further. Anyone out there who's got an idea? Peter
This is not a Parallels issue. Hold down the function key (fn) while using the function keys, because they only work for their specialty functions under Mac OS X by default (brightness up/down, sound up/down, num lock, etc). Pressing fn and the desired function key is the solution. I'm a bit concerned why you'd be getting this error in the Windows installer though; you shouldn't be.
I had similar issues... Solved it by going into OSX preferences, keyboard & mouse, and selecting "Use the F1-F12 function keys to control software".
