i have parallels 3170 running xp and i'm trying to copy dvd data onto my os x. the problem is the cd won't load into osx it only opens up in xp. whats the deal with that? do i have to turn off the guest os dvd drive? also, i was noticing before when i was running parallels and xp that my wireless connection in osx was waving in and out. i'm just wondering if parallels and xp could have been the problem with that. thansk for any tips. m
oh, i also noticed something else wierd in case anybody's wondering... you can't start up your guest os while a firewire drive is plugged in, but after it's booted you can plug it in if you need it to work is os x. it will not work in the parallels os.
For the CD problem you need to click (in Parallels menu) on Devices and disconnect the CD drive this will release the CD to OSX. For the wireless connection i have not seen that problem before you may need to adjust the way parallels interacts with your network in the network settings. Mine is set to Bridged using the default adapter and i regularly change between ethernet and wireless and i get no problems at all.
I have my firewire drive and iPod plugged in all the time !! You can even boot your guest OS off the firewire drive, i have XP on an external drive and Vista on my MB Pro.
