The first attempt to install windows crashed at about 72% the way through the windows xp setup. Rebooted VM and it doesn't go any further. Shut down Parallels, deleted the folder the VM was housed in (on an external drive).

Now, when trying to configure and chose the spot of where to put the virtual machine the picker shows the external hard drive to select the location but sorta freezes....it just beeps at you no matter where you click. Only way out is to cancel the Paralles configuration, then you can actually cancle the picker for the file location.

Tried uninstalling Parallels and re-installing it but to no avail.

    Ugggh. Help???

    Hello Bspooky,

Did you try a full uninstall?

    a. Go to Finder - Applications - Utilities - Terminal.
    b. Type and run the following commands:
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/vmmain.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/hypervisor.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/Pvsvnic.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/ConnectUSB.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/Pvsnet.kext
    • sudo rm -rf /Library/Parallels/
    • sudo rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.parallels.*
Before you run these commands, please make sure that your VM hdd and pvs files are NOT stored in ~/Library/Parallels.
    c. Reboot your Mac and reinstall Parallels.

    Best regards,
    Xenos
