    I needed to move my virtual machines (with windows xp) to a external drive for a while, the filesystem on that drive was FAT32. Now that i have moved my virtual machines back to my lovly macbook pro, they dont boot anymore, i get "disk read error occurred" How can i debug? Do i need to reinstall win xp? :(

    me too

    I'm getting same error... using Time Machine to restore a prior version of the file. From a WB 500gb disk, which I don't think is in FAT format, so that may not be relevant to this problem. Hope someone can answer this!

    I am running into the same issue with the latest official build from the website. I was running Tiger before, backed up to an external HFS+ hard drive, did a clean Leopard install and upgraded to 10.5.2, restored my parallels folder, and reinstalled the latest binary. When I try to start up the WinXP SP2 machine I get:

    "A disk read error occurred"

    This is bad. I just bought Parallels, too! To be fair, a quick Google search shows that the VMware users are having the same problem, heh. Maybe a Leopard 10.5.2 update bug?

    Oops... I posted under Parallels Workstation instead of Parallels Desktop! ^^;;;;;
