I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get this to work. I can't figure out how to get it so that I can test my local websites in IE. I've tried every variation I can think of in (xp) hosts file, and tried using host only networking but that just caused me to lose all net access. I can access the net using shared networking, and can access the local sites by IP (74.121.##.##), but I can't by their local name (http://www.sitename.dev:8888) which is unfortunately needed to have them work properly. (DocumentRoot isn't working by IP) I've searched but I can't find a FAQ or thread on this subject that helped. Is there somewhere else I have to adjust something? I just switched to Mac last week, so it's possible that I missed something in the setup or something.
