Could I get clarification on the state of the reference Mac used to create an OS X boot image. In the admin guide, page 103, it's not clear whether the reference Mac needs to have been configured with all the software and tweaks that will form a "gold" build image, or if it just needs to be a "clean" Mac build, as in an "out of the box" Mac. For the boot image it shouldn't matter. Personally I would take it from a clean machine because it's quicker. It's for the system image you may want to install and customise the OS.
