I am experiencing very high cpu usage when running parallels on ubuntu 6.10 host.

    My setup is:

    Intel Pentium D 940
    Intel 945P chipset
80GB ide hdd and 200GB sata hdd
    Ubuntu 6.10

Parallels is using about 15-30% of both cores when idle (no vm loaded) and between 90-100% of my 2nd core when active (vm loaded, regardless of vm activity). Is this normal? the 940 supports hardware virt. is this a kernel issue?

Thank in advance for your help!

    one more thing...

the vm is unbelievably SLOW. it's like molasses. i had this running on windows with ubuntu as the vm and it was FAST. i currently have hw acceleration turned on and acceleration set to high. Don't know if that helps but hopefully. Thanks.

    EDIT

After a reboot this issue went away. I have loaded a guest os, rebooted several times and have not had any more trouble. Except for one thing, after each reboot I am told that module vm-main cannot be found, please run parallels-config. So I open a terminal and issue sudo parallels-config. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
