When I go on road trips I keep my Mac in the tour pak on my Harley. I use streets and trips software in Windows to help locate interesting roads off the main highway. I suspend the Windows VM before closing the lid on my laptop. The Mac goes to sleep and batteries last a long time. Unsuspending Windows is much faster than restarting, and the Streets and Trips screens are right where I left them at the last stop.
