    Hi,

My macbook pro needs to go in for repair, and I'm told it may take 5 days (!)

In the meantime, as I need to work, I'm borrowing another Macbook pro (call it B) - which has most of the programs I need on it. However, I also need a Windows 8 parallels virtual machine - which is not installed in the other Macbook.

If I install parallels on Macbook B , can I just copy the VM image to Macbook B and everything will run, or do I need to copy programs and other things over for it to work??

Or any other ideas how to do this??

    regards

    Gareth

Only works if it's not Bootcamp based.
Install PDM8, copy the *.PVM package, place it in /Users/<user>/Documents/Parallels/, double click on it to register the VM with Parallels.

OK, thanks, I'll give that a try. Was worried as since I posted I found the applications I wanted to use in Windows also in the Mac file system - but I presume they're also included in the virtual machines....

Those are just shortcuts. The actual applications are in the VM.
