I'm running XP SP3 in Parallels 4 (I stuck it here as opposed to the guest OS forum because I assumed it wasn't a problem with XP itself) and when I copy text from XP and paste it into OS X (outside of Parallels) there are loads of null characters appended to the string that I copied. An example: I copy the word "test" from mIRC (the main reason I use Parallels) in XP. I switch back to OS X and want to use that string as the subject of a quicksearch in FireFox using google (I use this example because it shows the exact characters copied in the address bar). I paste it into the FireFox address bar and press enter - the google query URL flashes up and I don't see "test" as the query item, I see "test%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00". The main problem with this was looking up IPs - most of my copying and pasting between the two was copying an IP from in mIRC and pasting it into the FireFox address bar to use it in a quicksearch using a lookup page. Now every time I do that it tells me I've entered an invalid IP. If I paste it then press backspace many times it gets rid of the invisible characters eventually. I have what looks like the text I want to have pasted but when I press backspace nothing appears to happen, because it's deleting the invisible characters. So does anyone know why loads of null characters are being appended to any text that I copy? Or how I can stop it? It didn't happen with the same machine image in Parallels 3, only started when I upgraded to 4. Thanks. And please do tell me if you think this belongs elsewhere.
