I am running Vista Business from Parallels. I have a database installed in Vista. To connect to the database I use an IP address and port number. I need to connect to the database from OS X. Through reading posts I have surmised that I cannot use shared networking and connect to Vista from OSX. I have not succeeded to connect using host-only or the default adaptor. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

Bridged ethernet should be working, however make sure you don't have a firewall (vista or OSX ) in the way.

Personnaly I have an oracle XE configured in one of my windows wihch I administer thru a mac os x utility, so it is possible.

Maybe you can give us some idea of what you are trying to conenct to.

I am connecting to a Cache datababase. It is a standard SQL connection using a JDBC driver on OSX. It cannot hit the port or IP address. I am doing this at home. I cannot see the Vista computer name on my router. The OSX name is there with an IP. I am using Bridged and have an IP assigned in Vista with great connectivity. Any ideas?

    Hi,

It does sound like you have firewall issues.
