Connecting an an external db using a linux vps and plesk 9.5.2

Is it possible to connect to an external microsoft databse like sage from a linux vps running plesk 9.5.2

yes, you can connect to a database hosted on a remote machine provided database drivers are available on machine and supported.
also make sure remote connections are enabled in your database server.
there should be necessary changes made in configuration so to be able to establish successful connection.
database port should be enabled in firewall on database server.
database server should accept connections from your source server.
