Connect real host partition as removable disk to guest

Hi all,

I have a USB hard drive array attached to the host OS. I want to make that partition available to the guest as a removable disk - not a "hard drive" because it's possible it could become disconnected and that would result in the guest effectively losing a SATA hard drive. And that's bad.

Any ideas?


Note: having Parallels take over the entire USB device isn't an option for varying reasons.
