I am a new parallels 4 user with the latest build installed (3810) on a Macbook 13" 2.4 ghz machine. I am a novelist and have installed parallels for the express purpose of using a windows only software package (PowerWriter). I have noticed that Parallels seems to start, by default, in coherence mode and when I attempt to open the aforementioned software package while in that mode the first attempt usually results in a crash of the program in question ... not Parallels. If I then switch to "windows" mode, the software in question seems to open properly and I wonder if the problem lies with Coherence mode? Of course, the issue may reside with the underlying software package (PowerWriter) but is there anything about Coherence Mode that might possibly interfere with the loading of certain windows software programs? Thank you in advance.
Can not say for sure, for now I may suggest to tweak the video memory settings (i.e. increase it). Also, do you use a single monitor or two of them? And finally, I would suggest to send us a problem report (Parallels menu: Help -> Report a problem) right after the crash occures and post the report ID here. If application, or Windows, gives any error messages, it would be also very useful.
Thank you for your reply. I will do so the next time that it occurs but for the time being I have set up Parallels to start with "Window" mode rather than Coherence.
