Previously I had a windows 8.0 bootcamp install working fine in parallels but my windows 8.1 upgrade went bad and I had to just wipe out the bootcamp partition. Installed windows 8.1 on a new bootcamp partition. Can boot via bootcamp fine to 8.1 but when I try to create a new parallels virtual machine I don't get the option to use the bootcamp partition. Used the kb and tried to manually create a vm and assign the bootcamp partition using the preferences, get the "missing operating system" error when trying to boot. Tried repairing the drive but that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas how to fix?

Finally got it to work after changing the hard disk sata location in the settings. I wonder why the wizard fails to detect the bootcamp partition though.

Could you explain the details of what you did? I have the same problem. How do you know what to change the hard disk location to? Also when i try to change it, the change fails and it defaults to original setting.
