I've just noticed a strange issue that I don't believe was present before the latest update. I'm running Windows 7 32 bit and Parallels 8. I have both a 2012 Macbook Air and 2011 Mini. When I perform a quick short upward or downward swipe at the very top and very bottom on the built in trackpad on the Air or standalone trackpad on the Mini, the small letter z will appear just as if I was typing it. A quick short leftward swipe at the very right of the trackpad results in the letter c appearing. Since I'm using two separate Macs, with two pretty much identical Parallels installations, I know it isn't a hardware issue. This characters appear whether in coherence mode or not (and only within Parallels - ie Windows 7). I should note that a quick short swipe rightward on the very left of the trackpad invokes windows 7 flip 3d (which I'm assuming is intended).

Can anyone chime in on this? I'm assuming this is a bug?

This thread was quite timely because I could not figure out how to search for the letter "z" in this forum!

This was a bug I had experienced when evaluating Parallels 2 or 3, which was one reason I chose VMWare Fusion instead. Just switched back because of major Fusion bugs and am liking Parallels 8 except for this bug.

I first noticed this when typing in any application. The system was randomly inserting the "C" character where ever it liked! I reset all sticky-keys, on-screen keyboards; then panicked thinking I had a keymapper trojan virus........ spent 1.5 days trying to isolate what caused it.....

Gave up and booted directly into Windows 7 from bootcamp; issue gone!

Parallels Team!!! What have you done?

Good catch on exactly what gestures cause the "z" to appear. I am experiencing another effect: A quick short rightward swipe at the very left edge of the trackpad results in Aero Flip 3D displaying all of my open windows in a stack. A leftward swipe from the rightmost edge of the trackpad does nothing on my late 2010 MacBook Pro. My guest OS is Windows 7 64 bit and Parallels 8 (Build 8.0.18305).

I hope you find a solution to this very annoying issue soon. I tested VMWare Fusion and the issue does not exist with that product but I already have been with Parallels since the beginning so I am sticking it out. Please solve this soon!

Weird thing outside of the z. If i hit the top left hand corner of my track pad it launches flip 3d. Anyone else having this issue?

I also get the Z on swipe.

I'm getting this too and it's really frustrating.

Is there anyway of rolling back to the previous version until a fix comes out?

    Not only while swiping trackpad

    Hanna,

I get both these symptoms -- extra character (in my case "c") and Windows Aero Flip 3D -- just by typing. No trackpad, no function or control keys. I have an early-2011 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.2 and Parallels 8.0.1.18305.811918.

Thanks in advance for your quick work!

Looks like we have a fix in the latest update! Haven't tested it too much yet but looks good so far.

    Thanks.

Good. This issue makes Excel almost impossible to use, as "z" pops up and replaces the contents of cells. I cannot express how frustrating this is.

While I have not see "Z" when I type a outlook email some odd pop up comes up (something about checking conversation I think) and other times my window apps go into tile mode. This started on the last update and I am just installing the new one that just popped up today (Nov 1). Not sure if what I am seeing is related but it is driving me nuts.

I'm seeing this issue as well as one where I get an message error consistently while keying in an email into Outlook. they error states that "Outlook was not able to proceed with the reconversion, please try selecting part of the text again and reconverting. The message comes up when I'm keying in replies to email. Happening on two machines, a new 13" pro Retina and a new MacBook Air 13. It's very annoying and started with the latest update to Parallels.

    Giuffd,
wow, that's interested. Could you please reproduce it, send us Problem Report as described in http://kb.parallels.com/en/9058 and give me an ID?

    Thanks in advance,
    Hanna

    Hi Hanna.

I can't reproduce the problem now, because it went away with your update 8.0.18314.813278. I did submit a problem report on 10/31, some little while before my first post in this forum, but I didn't note down the ID. Is there a log tucked away in my machine somewhere that I can retrieve the number, or can you figure it out from my e-mail address/date/time? Or maybe it doesn't matter any longer.

    Thanks!
    Rich
