I've installed a new USB-to-Serial adapter (dual port), which Win XP sets to Com11 and Com12. The problem is the Win app that I'm trying to run is only able to use com ports numbered 1 thru 9. Unfortunately I don't know my much about Windows and have no idea how to reassign port numbers. Is there some way to do this in the VM itself?
Problem solved... almost. I found I could change the port number in the Component Manager, but for some reason it showed that all but one of the comm ports 1 through 10 were in use. The one free port took care of the immediate problem, but I am curious how all of the other ports could be in use. One is an external modem used in the Mac world for fax, but that leave 8 ports in use, but not assigned to hardware.
