The CD drive apparently never spins down when in use in the VM. Unlike the OS X environment or a native Windows XP machine, the drive never stops spinning when there is a disc inserted and the physical drive is connected to the VM. On the OS X desktop the drive will go quiet in ~30 seconds, but this does not happen in the VM. Mike
