Parallels has been running well until today, when I started it and it started Windows with the message "shutting down" or some such. I clicked around until that message quit showing up, but now when I try to start Windows XP I get a screen that says "You need to log into Windows to complete configuring your virtual machine. IF autorun is disabled, you will also need to open My Computer . . . " There was a link to visit the Parallels Web site, and that gave me this message: "This reconfiguration is needed to launch your Boot Camp, migrated from PC OS or virtual machines of other vendors in Parallels Desktop. During the reconfiguration additional drivers, which are required to boot VM and Parallels Tools will be installed. This is a one-time operation. "To be able to proceed with upgrading the virtual machine configuration, you need to perform the following actions manually. When these actions are completed, the upgrade will resume automatically. "When you see the Windows login screen, you should log in to Windows. " That message was preceded by one saying, "Trying to boot from Primary Master IDE drive. . . ." And the problem is that I can't log into Windows to do anything. Anyone know the fix for this Catch 22 snafu?
