I have a configuration that was transferred from an old Virtual PC file that is 16gb. I am getting an error message that the C: drive is near full. I attempted ti us Parallels Image Tool to expand my HDD file but, after about 10 mins of reading the file, I get an error message that there was a problem reading the image. I have repeated the process multiple times with the same result. Interestingly, the HDD partition works fine in Parallels. Any idea why my attempts to expand fail? Thoughts on what else I could try? I am trying to go from 16 gb to 32 gb and I have plenty of free space on my Mac HD. I believe the file is already expanding type, as it offers me the option to convert it to plain (that might fail too, who knows). Only other possibly relevant point is that the partition is FAT32 type and not NTSC.

If you are using BootCamp I can not help you in detail because as it was in unsupported beta 2 years ago I chose not to use it

First clone your VM into two or three copies, I keep mine and run them from external firewire 800 La Cie disks

You may then safely experiment with altering the configuration of one of the copies

if you spoil one no harm done just make a clone of a clone
(It pays to use the Parellels >> Menu >> File >> Clone for this (also for deleting old VM)

my own VM is 32 GB with 20 GB free because I always save data in shared folders on the Mac OS side, and back up my databases and critical documants out of house onto the web

I hope you find a solution - bootcamp has a history on these forums of causing cries of pain :-(

    Hello Pgershon,

    Thank you for the screenshot.
The cause of the error is that FAT32 disks are not handled by the Image Tool correctly. The issue is fixed in-house and will be implemented in the next major update.

    Best regards,
