I'm running Parallels 8.0.18101 on OSX 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion) on a mid-2011 Mac Mini. I'm trying to create an OSX 10.8 VM using the recovery partition.

The VM boots the recovery partition to the point I get the "OS X Utilities Menu". I select "Reinstall OS X", and the VM says "To download and restore OS X, your computer's eligibility will be verified with Apple".

I click "Continue", and I get a popup that days "Could not find installation information for this machine. Contact AppleCare".

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I tried doing the same thing from a mid-2010 MacBook Pro will all the same stuff, and it worked fine.

Then I tried using the Mountain Lion .dmg that gets downloaded by the App Store on the mid-2011 Mac Mini, and that worked fine, too.

So it's just the Mac Mini + recovery partition that has the problem.

I have the same problem, on a Mid-2012 Retina Mac Book Pro. Did you ever get this sorted out?

Not on my Mac Mini. It only ever worked on my MacBook Pro, so I just built the VM there and moved it to the Mini.

Not a great solution if you've only got one machine.
