I am really confused by Parallels at the moment. If you have version 18 and you also have a permanent 18 license then it should work. Is it working????? If so your good to go and you can ignore the upgrade notifications. It just seems like they want to get money every year by changing you from a permanent license to a subscription license.
I was told by Parallels support people that the subscription will work from version 17 onwards.
In my case I have a Mac Intel with Catalina and run old XP, Win 7, 10 and 11 VM's. I have also been told by Parallels support people that version 18 is the highest I can go and still use the old VM's.
I am using my latest version 20 subscription license to run it. But whats the point if my VM are at end of life and version 18 is the last version that gives me the ability to run them? Why keep paying each year for upgrades? I would rather buy a permanent 18 license. But Parallels wont let me. So as soon as my subscription expires I am cactus. I am willing to buy the permanent license but they won't allow that and try to force subscriptions. How counter productive is that? It pisses off your customers and the only excuse is that they want a constant stream of money. My set-up is at end of life.

I started buying Parallels at version 4 through to 12. Then I went to a subscription. The subscription took me through to today and then I upgrade to the ARM M4 chip Mac. That means I can't use my old VM's at all on the M4 chip. So I have to keep the old Intel MacBook with Catalina as the only machine to run the old VM's and I cant buy version 18 as a permanent license to keep then alive. Because I have had a subscription that shot me past the 18 permanent license purchasing window. There is no going back it seems.

I hope for your sake, that your permanent license works your version 18 otherwise I suspect you too will be treated badly a sucked into the subscription model that once in you cant get out of until you get so upset with Paralles that you dump them. I truly wish it was different but that's my experience up to today and July my subscription is ending.

Just an update. yesterday I was told that I can purchase a permanent license V20 and the serial they give me will work a version 18 download.
This will keep me operational until the Intel Mac Book dies. So that a good outcome as I was always prepared to purchase a license but no in a subscription that continues for life and no benefit in keeping an older version running.

    Thanks Parallels.
