I am using a MBP with 10.14.5 and Parallels 13. I have a W10 VM that I had set to use 40 GB disk space. I installed the latest W10 updates and got an info that 1903 is available but that I need an additional 12.9 GB of free space. In settings, system updates I checked the disk space and it showed total 38.8 GB, used 35.9 GB and free 2.86 GB. I shutdown the VM, and increased the HD space to 55GB. Started the VM again, but in system update check disk space I still see the 38.8 GB total disk space. Because the increase to 55GB is not recognized in W10 I cannot install 1903. Am I missing some changes in the Windows setup or configuration? How can I get Windows to recognize the additional space I assigned?
Hi Gerd, please make a backup copy of your VM and try the following steps: Locate your Virtual machine in Finder Right click on the *.pvm file of your virtual machine -> choose Show Package Contents In Mac OS X, go to Applications > Utilities and launch Terminal. Type the following but do not execute: prl_disk_tool check --hdd Drag the *.hdd file into Terminal and drop it right next to "prl_disk_tool merge --hdd ". In Terminal you will see something like this: prl_disk_tool check --hdd /Users/Username/Documents/Parallels/Windows\ 7.pvm/Windows\ 7-0.hdd Note: There should be a space between '--hdd' and 'Users/Username...' Press Enter/Return key to run the command and attempt to fix the disk consistency. When the operation is complete, try resizing the hard disk again.
