Dopey question, perhaps, but my efforts on the Web have left me worse off than before. I want to install XP, specifically, to run in Parallels 7 on OSX 10.6 . The room I'm sitting in has never so much as seen a copy of Windows later than 3.1x. I do not want to bother with shady deals and would rather pay for a real installable copy from some reliable source. If possible. That's the ground rules. A lot of the things I see offered are one or another update, upgrade, whatever: not for a place that never had an install disk or auth code. Amazon, for instance, offers things that invariably show a Win version or two in the *requirements*. Even if they say they can be installed on a brand new system without Windows. Yes, these are idiots. But that doesn't help me get something I can install. I see that it's kind of late to install a new XP, maybe with SP3 or something in hopes it's stable. Any suggestions or clarifications? As you can see, I am deeply and deliberately ignorant of Windows. For my purpose, I expect to learn something about it, but the cost/benefit ratio needs to be finite. Thanks for any help.
