More info about my recent experiences with Parallels 3.0: Upgrading Build 3188 with WinXP Home + X1 Search Enterprise installed to Build 4124 (Parallels 3.0). Upgrade went fine, but X1 Search refused to start. This condition persisted after multiple restarts of the WinXP VM. Note: X1 Search builds its indexes locally in the WinXP VM filesystem, but indexes two Outlook 2003 PST files stored on the Mac filesystem, accessed via the Parallels Shared Folders. I uninstalled X1 Search entirely, rebooted, and reinstalled. Several attempts to restart X1 Search failed. After manually shutting down the X1 processes via WinXP several times, and then starting Outlook 2003 prior to X1 Search, X1 finally came up. Interestingly, all the previous indexes were still there and worked. Regards, StevenC
