Hello dear Parallels Team, i recently got a problem when i tried to run Parallels Workstation with two Harddisk Images. The first HDD-Image was put on IDE Port 0:0, the second HDD-Image was put on IDE Port 0:1. The CD-Rom Drive was conected to IDE Port 1:0. Boot-Sequence was set to "CD-ROM, Hard Disk, Floppy". Then i tried booting from the CD-Drive. I used some kind of MS-Dos Rescue-CD having Norton Ghost on it. I wanted to clone Drive 1 to Drive 2. For any reason Parallels did NOT boot from the CD-Drive. Then i set the CD-Rom Drive to IDE 1:1 - but it didn´t work either. So i decided to put the CD-Rom Drive to 0:1 and my second HDD to 1:0. Now my CD-Rom Drive boots, but when launching Norton Ghost from a DOS Shell, it just finds my first HDD, but not second one, where i would like to clone the content to. I guess, there is some problem inside the emulated BIOS which is not able to handle the second IDE Port via INT13. When i finally launched some kind of WinPE with Ghost32 i finally could clone the content from Drive 1 to Drive 2 because the correct Driver for the Secondary IDE Port were installed and the second harddisk was found. It would be nice, if this INT13 Problem for the second IDE port gets solved in the next release of Parallels Workstation. For completion: Im running Parallels Workstation v2.2 Build 2222 on Windows XP SP3. I don´t know, if this is a general problem in several Parallel virtualizing products, or if this problem only persists in the windows version because i only use the windows version. Would be great if you could figure this one out. Thanks for reading! Luke Filewalker
Hello John, thanks for picking up my request. Build 2232 has the same problem as described above with Build 2222. Regards L. F.
