I downloaded en_windows_vista_ultimate_sp2_checked_build_x86_dvd_342432.iso from MSDN and tried to install it under Parallels Desktop for Mac 6.0.11992 (625164 12/17/2010) on OS X 10.6.6.

This is to create a new VM.
It fails to detect the operating system version, so I selected Vista and did NOT check 64 bit.
    I entered the license key.

It starts the procedure OK, and sometimes gets as far as Expanding Files. But it always dies with a BSOD about how it was crashing to prevent the machine from being damaged, etc.

I tried it with that file, with that file under a short name, and with that ISO burned to a DVD using Disk Utility.

    What could the problem be?

I've had good luck with XP (in the past) and with Win7 (last week, in this exact configuration).

    Screen shot of BSOD.

(I can't edit my OP for some reason.)
