I am using Parallels7 and bootcamp. I sometimes boot directly on bootcamp for doing audio work and sometimes i start under Parallels to work on stuff that is ok do do on a VM. As for now I'm still using Win7 without activation yet, but I know this question will come for Win7 activation also, but in the meantime, I am having problems with many of my purchased software that I register and activate under bootcamp, but then when I try to use them under parallels, they pop up dialogs that they have to be activated, presumably because they are looking at some underlying hardware which is not quite the same as what the VM is providing. is it possible to configure Parallels so that it passes through to the VM the hardware id's that are typically used for this kind of thing, in order to avoid having to re-authenticate my software every time I go back and forth between bootcamp or VM? The same question will apply to when I authenticate Win7 as well... This is one machine, one user, one instance...the only issue is whether I'm launching Win7 directly on bootcamp or indirectly through the VM.
Hi there, You may be asked to re-activate Windows once you boot it in the virtual machine, but no additional license is required.
With both activations be retained so taht I can go back and forth between parallels and Bootcamp? Does Microsoft consider that like two separate license activations? What about other software products that are causing this problem?
