    Hi,
I am new in this forum , and have been looking at many solutions given, but i haven't found what i need. i hope i am posting in the correct place.

I have a MBP 2.2GHZ 15" , intel based. i installed boot camp a few month ago . using windows with no problem, great speed. I then installed Parallels and used it with my Bootcamp partition. everything worked great. until about a month ago, when the update 5160 for parallels came out.

since the 5160 update, i cannot turn on windows with bootcamp , but i am able to run it in Parallels with no problems.

when i select my windows partition when booting my MBP, i simply get the famous " _ " flashing for a few seconds on the top left of the screen , and then the screen just stay black. and nothing appears. i don't get an error number, nothings happens.

i have looked around this forum for quite a while , and tried many solutions given for all sorts of errors. like this on , and many others.

i have already reinstalled parallels, didn't nudge.

    thanks for helping,
feel free to ask any question if i missed something !

    Ansel

thanks for the answer, but i have tried all that is said in your topic, nothing helped.

i have not tried downgrading the version of parallels as i do not want to reinstall windows xp.

the diffence with you and me , is that you see a glimpse of a blue screen and then your computer starts over.
I, on the other hand, only see a black screen, and the computer just freezes .

i am still trying to fixe this. any help from an admin would be good.

I have ran into a strange situation.
I had some time to spare, so i decided to look around for more errors on my windows. i therefor decided to defrag my computer, you never know. i noticed that a few Windows files were fragmented, so i decided to defragmente my computer until no more windows files were fragmented.

once that done, i did a check disk with windows. no errors found.

anyhow, i decided to start windows with boot camp, you never know.

guess what ? now i finally get an error. actually two errors, but they are probably related.
when i turn on windows via boot camp, i have the choice in between "windows XP" and "Parallels" ( those are not the exact names) .
-when booting with the Parallels version, i get a "File missing or corrupted : windows/system32/hal.dll"
    -when booting with the Windows xp version, i get a blue screen with this error : "STOP : 0x0000008E ( 0XC0000005, 0x0001272E, 0xF78E63D0, 0x00000000)"

i am currently looking into both of those errors, i am also going to uninstall parallels and see what happens.
