Hi Guys, I have version 10 installed working from a usb drive. When I boot up and hold the alt key I don't see the option to boot to windows from the usb drive. Is this possible? cheers Steve Warby
Hello @SteveW4 Please open your Virtual Machine configuration pane -> Hardware -> Boot order > set external device as boot order and check how it goes!
Please clarify us whether Windows virtual machine installed with Parallels Desktop or Boot camp Windows?
Hi SteveW4, It is not possible to boot to windows from the usb drive when the Mac boots up. However, you can make a Virtual Machine to start automatically when login to Mac account. Check this out
Thanks for the info but I need to boot into windows. I am using an app called iClone which runs on the virtual machine using directx 9. . This is okay whilst creating the animations but I need directx 11 to render at top quality.
Hello SteveW4, Parallels Desktop 12 does not support Direct X11 yet. But we would suggest you stay tuned and subscribe to our newsletter for all the updates on the upcoming new features. Hi Guys, I don't seem to be getting any where with this. I used Paralles 10 to setup windows on a USB drive. I was not aware this was a 'special' install. I now need to be able to boot to windows from the USB drive is this possible ? Can I copy the windows setup onto another USB drive and boot from that. If not possible can I copy the windows instal onto the mac's drive ? Any tutorials appreciated. Cheers Steve Warby
Thanks for the link. Hi Does this also allow to boot directly into windows 10 on a mac. I work with an application called iClone. It runs on parallels but with directx 9 which is okay to produce animations but when rendering I need directx 11. Ideally I then need to boot the mac with windows and work there. At the moment I have remote into my sons window machine and use that. Ps would this also work with a large 512 gig ad card. Cheers Steve Warby
