I have a Core Duo iMac with 2 GB of RAM installed and I'm using Parallels Build 3188 I have had XP installed for a while and had few problems. I installed Vista in February and since, XP has been problematic. They shouldn't be connected, but they apparently are. When I launch XP, I see the black Windows XP load screen, but I never get to the blue login screen even though it appears to fully load. I'm basically stuck on black. Can't do anything other than quit. I can log into Vista or any of my Linux builds (Fedora, Ubuntu and Suse) with no problem. XP, though, is out. And I need XP for a few things. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, Kevin
You have the wrong or corrupted Parallels tools installed in your XP VM. Safe boot into XP (hold f8 or fn+f8 on macbook) immediately upon starting xp. Uninstall parallels tools. Restart VM. Install Parallel tools. Enjoy happen screen again.
That was exactly the problem. Thanks. Any idea how the tools would have gotten corrupted? I use it so little, I'm not sure.
Works Great! I installed the update, got the black screen. This fixed it up great! Thank you so much for your post!
