On a MBP w/ an external monitor, I can cause the (WinXP) VM to go to fullscreen on the second monitor (way cool). When I move the mouse onto the primary monitor, though, it is invisible... things that have mouseover events happen, so the mouse location is being tracked, but the mouse pointer is invisible. Hitting F12 to go to Dashboard and back causes it to reappear When I move the pointer back up to the fullscreen VM, it works fine in XP, but again disappears when I move it back to the primary screen, at whch point it again diasppears until I go to Dashboard and back. I suspect that someone is forgetting to restore the mouse cursor? BTW.... wow... this incredibly cool. The moment USB is working to the point that I can connect to my not-supported-under-OSX Dell printer and print from WinXP, I'll be buying about four licenses!!!
Please, describe, does it happen always or just with some software running simulaneously, did you install Tools or not, Does host cursor appear if you press "unlock" (CTRL+ALT ?) key combination ?
Another problem. When running fullscreen (on primary or secondary monitor) with Parallels Tools installed, when I mouse through the start menu in WinXP, the typical light blue highlighting of the menu item my mouse is currently hovering over is missing. Everything functions fine otherwise.
It always happens, 100% repeatable when the VM is running fullscreen on the second monitor. When the VM is running windowed, it works fine (no lost cursor) when the cursor moves in and out of the VM. The B4 tools are installed (This image was created with B2, Tools were updated for both B3 and B4). The host cursor does not re-appear when CTRL-ALT is pressed, either when I try it when the cursor is actually over the VM and then move the cursor out, or when I move the cursor out and then press CTRL-ALT. In all cases, going to Dashboard and back causes the cursor to reappear, as does a host suspend-resume cycle. Guest is fully patched XP-SP2, with Outlook and proprietary VPN apps installed in the image. Host is MBP 10.4.6, 2.16GHz, 2GB. No apps installed that I can think of that would seem to be relevent.
I get this behavior, too - but slightly different. I don't have a second screen, but when I go full-screen with XP-SP2, after certain repeatable events, my mouse pointer disappears (in the guest OS). If I ctrl+alt or ctrl+enter to go back to the host OS, my mouse pointer reappears, and I can go back to full-screen where the mouse pointer reappears. I know I updated tools when I installed B3, do I need to update tools again in B4? The repeatable event that seems to cause it for me (a variety of things do, but this one seems to always do it) is opening something that uses the IE HTML rendering component (IE, WMP media library, parts of Explorer, etc.). I've gotten pretty quick at going ctrl+alt & re-entering full-screen, because this happens quite often (once a minute, maybe?).
FYI - without tools installed, the pointer does not disappear in XP. Also, note - I don't think this is exclusively a full-screen mode problem, I've seen this happen when I'm windowed as well.
Just re-installed B4 Tools and found that (a) simply logging into XP or (b) pulling up IE and having it render an error page (no network connectivity) made my pointer disappear. Maybe it has something to do with XP changing the cursor to from different states and the Tools driver not acknowledging this? e.g. pointer to pointer+hourglass or hourglass only I noticed that without Tools, my pointer is white, with tools, my pointer remains the same as in OS X. Cheers
