I am new to Parallels, so far things look pretty good. Sometimes there is some odd activity when you are using an external three button mouse and trying to run any dos program (edit) is very, very slow. The biggest problem however is networking. With EN1 (wireless) as my main connection I can successfully boot the VM (windows XP , SP2) and run everything but the network is sporadic, it usually works, it doesn't seem to fail when it is working, but sometimes it just refuses to work when I start the VM. When it is not working I have noticed the following.

I can get an IP address from DHCP *once* at boot time. After that it doesn't work.
I can ping any other machine on the network, with the exception of my gateway router. I can load webpages from the local network with the exception of the gateway router. My local network is 192.168.20.x my gateway is 192.168.20.1, I am also running a hardware VPN and cannot access anything in the VPN network (the VPN is built into the router). All other machines on the network have no issues of course and OSX doesn't have an issue, it can access everything as well. It is almost as though there is some missing link between OSX and the guest OS somewhere at the routing level (it does not complain that the network is not reachable, it simply times out). Route print looks fine under XP although having everything set to metric 30 is a bit odd, I don't know enough about networking to comment one way or another but comparing the guest os route table to the rest of my machines on the network shows this as being different.

I have tried disconnecting the network device from outside of the VM and on one occassion this seemed to work but typically it does not. I have also tried repairing the XP NIC, renewing the IP from the command prompt, etc, etc, etc.. I don't think that I have ever been able to change anything on the XP side and had any effect.

All is not lost, when it does work which is requiring shutting down and restarting the VM then it seems to work just fine. All access works, nothing has changed on the XP side (route is the same, ip info is the same). When it works, it works.

System is a macbook pro, 2.1/2GB. XP is SP2 without the windows updates (but running a killer virus scanner :) )
