I've got a rather new Mac mini (dual core). I originally loaded Beta 2 of Parallels on it and it worked great. I never got a message about VT-x or anything. Then, I loaded Beta 3 and it started reporting that VT-x wasn't enabled. I ran the utility to check this and it reported that it was available but disabled in firmware. I tried several of the "tricks" to get it working again but nothing worked. So, I just installed Beta 4 and now VT-x is working again. So, I was wondering, did Parallels do anything specific to fix this issue?
We did number of fixes in VT-x engine, but I hardly understand how it could correlate with "VT-x wasn't enabled" message.
I will try and install Beta 4 tomorrow. I have never gotten the Vt-x hardware emulation to work on my mini. I posted my mini's info. in another thread about it. What's the deal on this?
I installed Beta 4 on my mini duo core earlier today. Received warning that my chipset was VT-x enabled, but disabled due to firmware. Already "updated" my intel firmware - prior to install, still no go.. BUT - was able to load Parallels and XP VM ( although I just got a kernal panic in the middle of the second install ) so we'll see how this one proceeds...
