I am running my iMAC (24'/233/2GB RAM/250HD) with Parallels Desktop. I purchased a Western Digital external Hard Drive (MyBook Pro II - 1 TB) to backup my iMAC. I partitioned the HD on a PC using a RAID 1 (NSTF) format as follows: 450 GB partition dediucated to iMAC and 50 GB dedicated to my Windows files on Parallels. IS THIS THE BEST WAY TO DO IT .... OR .... DOES BACKING UP THE IMAC HARDRIVE ALSO BACKUP ALL WINDOWS FILES IN PARALLEL? There is nothing in your FAQ's addressing this issue! Richard
Sounds like you are using Bootcamp? Or Parallels with Bootcamp? Otherwise, there is no reason to partition your hard drive like that. Can you clarify? If you are running Parallels without Bootcamp, then backing up your OSX hard drive will back up your Parallels software and virtual machine as well. I use a product called SuperDuper to backup my Mac. There is a free version, but if you pay the 30 bucks, it will do incremental backups and will allow backups to be run automatically according to a schedule. You can do a search and find a lot of opinions on which is the best product for backup.
