I am running Parallels 4.0 build 4.0.3810. When I record audio the first several seconds have a lot of static. I am using a Fast Track microphone, which is connected via USB. The static occurs when I let Parallels use the Fast Track as the default sound device. I thought I'd try choosing the Fast Track in the USB device settings with Parallel, but then no sound at all is heard. Any ideas what I might be able to do to get rid of the static?

    Hello TucsonTom,

    1) Log in to Windows => Go to Control Panel => turn off Windows Firewall and also Anti virus.
    2) Please disable the Parallel Internet Security (Kaspersky).
    3) Go to Control Panel => Go to Add or remove Programs => Remove Parallel tools completely.
    4) After the Parallel tools are removed then on the Menu bar click on Virtual machine.
    5) Click on install Parallel tools => Click on Continue and proceed with the installation.
    6) This is a time consuming process so i would request you to kindly keep a check if you get the confirmation message that " Parallel tools are successfully installed."
    7) Restart the Windows Operating System and the Mac.

    This should work.

This turned out to be a disaster, Peter. I am on step 5 of your procedure. I've seen at least 25 "Cannot install this hardware" messages, and I'm not exaggerating. It hasn't finished yet, the messages continue. I don't know if parallels will run or not after it's done, assuming that it actually finishes and this isn't an infinite loop. Any idea what's going on here? Any advice?

By the way, the irony is that I had decided to abandon all hope for getting decent audio with Parallels 4 and was recording the audio on the Mac side. It's a lot more tedious, but at least it was working. I'd be happy to get back to that state again!
