I don't understand the reason to run Dave on anything higher than OS 9. OS X has SMB file sharing built in - what does Dave offer? D
More reliable print setup, easier access to network shares. HOWEVER..... I have found it a pain in the proverbial for sharing Mac folders. I have now removed it and sharing is once again easy. I have however had to set up my printers again, and that was far from easy, with SAMBA errors. Got it working in the end using the advanced options, Windows printing with SAMBA, then the exact comand line address of the printer. It would not work using simple browsing. I agree though, OSX is a huge improvement over OS9 in a windows environment. I go way back with Macs - my first was a 512K, then a Plus (wow, the speed of that thing.......).
I use the native printing system and CUPS on my Macs (my printers are all on a network as opposed to belonging to particular PCs, very cheap to do these days) and have no problems. SAMBA is not even involved. D
