One of the things holding me back from buying a MacBookPro has been the multi-touch trackpad. After 12 years with my Powerbook I'm afraid it'll be too hard to use (I don't have a gadget that uses this technology, like an iPhone) But a month ago I got a Verizon FiOS bundle that includes free wi-fi at hotspots around the country. The only problem is that it's Windows-only. I have Parallels v5 and Windows 7. I feel safe using it because I don't allow the Windows side access to the Internet except to download Kaspersky and Windows updates (i.e. no IE 8 access; all other Internet activity is redirected to Safari). If I get a new MacBookPro I'm wondering whether I will be able to do something similar: connect via wi-fi and then use the Mac side for any e-mail or browsing. Has anyone experience with this? I can call Verizon but they're often clueless about Macs. Besides the Windows-only support for their free wi-fi, their TrueSwitch (porting your address book to your Verizon account) and InHomeAgent (downloadable troubleshooting software) are also Windows-only, although support personnel seem unaware of this, often recommending them to a Mac customer (me)
