I previously had the latest version of 2.5 installed and my VM was suspended. I upgraded to 3.0 and ran the VM. It asked me to upgrade the image, which I did. It then said cannot resume from a previous version, so I clicked reset. It booted, showed a new hardware window, then the tools installer came up above that. Went through the tools install then it told me to restart, so I did. Now when the VM starts it gets to the blue screen that says "Windows is starting up..." and just sits there. No disk or network activity. Been sitting there for an hour. Restored from backup and went through the exact same steps above and same problem. For a split seccond you can see a dialog show inbetween the black and blue screens, but way too fast to read or do anything about. Any ideas? (asside from reinstalling Windows) Nate
I had the same problem with a Vista Ultimate VM. I bit the bullet and force quit Parallels. When I restarted, it thought the VM was suspended. So, I stopped it, then restarted it. It boot normally and everything seems to be intact. korm
Fixed! As it turns out AutoAdminLogon was set to true in the Registry but DefaultPassword was blank. Here is a link that talks about it: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/13/ So I put in the password and it booted normally (though setting AutoAdminLogin to false would probably work too).
