Hello, The amount of my active RAM increased dramatically, leaving my Free RAM with only around 44 megs every time I exit Parallels 3120 running XP Pro. To be clear, I have 2G of RAM running in an iMac 24 inch. Everytime I exit Parallels 3120, I see that my Active RAM shows about 1.4G and Free RAM of only less than 60M. I usually have to restart the Mac to clear and reclaim my RAM. Has anyone noticed this?
Normal as far as I understand OS X memory management. Active pages will be freed to the inactive pool over time. However, what I am ignorant of is whether when an application closes it must force those active pages out of that pool or always lets the OS handle this. http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Performance/Conceptual/ManagingMemory/index.html
