    activation?
    I installed Parallels 3.0 MacBook 13" with 2.16 RAM/ 160 HD Tiger
Read the forum a bunch and upgraded to the 5160 build.
    Have Windows XP installed---sorta.

Cannot activate my Windows XP copy for some reason.
Yep, it's legit. What to do?
When the Windows "22 days remaining in activation" balloon pops up, I click on it.

I hit a radio button and then the "Next" window. Nothing happens.

Cannot sign up online for anything.....
    clues?

    thanks for your note....
I went to the MS website and downloaded a KB file
to supposedly "fix" a corrupted file that deals with the activation code
    not really taking hold.

What's weird is that I punched in all the correct numbers and had XP Pro working okay.
But then access and activation denied after one day.

I also went into the regedit file of XP to identify and remove and rename the affected files. I used to do programming, but that was eons ago. Still....was dismayed and depressed once into the directory files of MS---not much has changed. Just layers upon layers of stuff. I was dealing with i386 code.

Nothing changed once out of messing under the hood. I was thinking---well, maybe the full XP disc does not mount?
    Dunno.

I then went and deleted all as noted in one of your fine forum files/threads: went to Disk Utility, ran repair and Parallels Uninstall Disc. Re-Repaired and then ran "erase the empty space."

About to try the reinstall of both Parallels 3.0 and Windows XP Pro.
Will drop a note in a few hours to see if things are stable.

    activation hang

    Stacey and Parallel Users....

was pulling my hair out last night, messing with the Win Directory files.
Realized it was hopeless. Searched Parallels and did a delete of all.

Ran Disk Utilities and for good measure...wrote over the erase memory....which took 1.5 hours.
Rec'd a message that said "....your Start Up Disk is about Full."
    Any clues about this?

    I ignored it.

Reinstalled Parallels 3.0 (build 4128). And installed Win XP Pro.
Hey...it works! I could activate and register my copy with MS.
    Taaaaddddaaaaaaa......

Installed my Win vendor software (surveillance cameras) and all is well.
Not in heart-attack mode. It is frustrating when things do not go "as planned."

Am not too keen (as of today) on upgrading to the next Parallels build, which would be 5160?
Advisable or not? What would be the benefits, if any?

Thanks again.....love the archives at this site.
I think I know more about Parallels/Win interface issues than my Mac!
    LOL....
