I've seen a few threads about shared folders, but it seems like those are to access Mac files while on the guest OS. How do I access files from my guest OS while working on my primary Mac OS? I want to be able to work with applications on windows that create files to access when I'm using the Mac. It worked with bootcamp, but I thought I could do the same thing with parallels without having to reboot everytime. Thanks

Setup network directory sharing in windblows, then just connect to it as a normal network drive in mac. The VM must be running to do this.

thanks for the info--can you give me a little more direction/ details. Also I tried to run dvd shrink but it told me the target didnt have enough space or something like that--any advice for that. Sorry if these are stupid questions, but i am completely new to all this

For most of us casual windows users (ie not adminstrators of an office) windows networking is a black art and so secure that it is a total waste of time.

The modern equivalent of "gum shoe networking" (passing a floppy disk from desk to desk) is to burn a cd or send as an email attachment or move a USB disk from one machine to another

On the windwoes side, go to "my computer" and right click on the "c" drive, then click on "sharing". Then enable sharing.

The mac side I'm not so good with, but it needs to be connected as a network drive. In Linux, Samba is used to achieve this.
