Since installing version 3.0 every time I double click on an Excel spreadsheet Parallels asks if I want to open it in Windows.

I say NO but I still cannot double click a Mac file and have it pen on the Mac, I have to resort to a File-Open which is NOT acceptable.

Any ideas how to fix this quickly guys?

Yes, Powerpoint and Word are working fine for me also BUT EXCEL ALWAYS tries to open on the PC!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not funny, not with the number of Excel documents I work with.

Show information on one of the .xls files and check the file association, eventually changing it to associate clearly with Excel 2004 (mac) and not Excel 2007 (PC). Should fix it. Now I don't know how by default your .xls would have been re-associated with the PC version instead of the Mac one.

There is a new feature in Parallels 3.0. Go to Parallels desktop and select Preferences. Once there you can change what apps open in what OS. Hope this helps.

    Not quite.

The only options in preferences are FTP, Email and Browser.

    NOTHING about Excel.

    Hi,

To solve the proble do the following:

    1. Point your .xls file in Finder.
    2. Right-click that file and select Get Info menu item.
    3. In the Get Info dialog choose Open With menu and select your Excel (Mac).
    4. Click Change All button.

    That's all,
    Alex

    Many thanks.

During install it appears that the application to open Excel was set as IE on the VM!!!!!!!

    Cheers.
