If I make a Parallels VM on my iMac 20" Dual Core 2.0 GHz with 2 Gb ram and use BootCamp from the OS Installation/Custom "Select virtual hard disk option:", is Parallels actually COPYING the BootCamp HD that I have set up to a VM, or is it USING the existing BootCamp virtual HD on the separate partition?

In other words, is this just a quicker way to use an existing bootcamp setup, allowing me to boot into Mac OSX and still acess and use the BootCamp disk I formerly had to restart to get to, or is this making a Parallels VM and MOVING the Win XP install from my BootCamp to a NEW Parallels VM?

Also, what about security? One of the virtues of BootCamp was that it allowed increased security--no crossover between op sys's, and it wasn't virtual, but actually written to the disk with all that that implies.

It's using your BC partition, not copying it. As for security, there are tons of posts here about that.
