2.2 New Release Problem list
Updated problems for 2.2 Official release, Suse 10.1 host, Win/OS2 guests.
As of 10/12/06:
1. There are USB options on any screen. We cannot add any USB device to any type of guest. USB appears to be completely missing. USB devices are fine on host. No change from beta.
2. Every boot of a guest puts up a message saying problem with /dev/rtc....
3. Each boot states problem writing sound device will use loopback. New problem with 2.2 release.
4. Does not save the Boot Settings. That is, if you select CD, floppy, disk and save, it never saves this change.
5. When we went to fullscreen mode in Win or OS2, the screen is black and nothing appears. When we go back using ctk+alt it resumes normally. So we cannot use fullscreen mode. This is different behaviour from the last beta.
6. Sometimes Parallels left a partial screen up when it should not have. I think it's related to item 5. I know you need more in this but it's all I got in the notes from others. Video card is an ATI 9000 and monitor is an LCD.
7. During installation of OS/2 the CD must be disconnected and reconnected after is says mount CD2. This took a long time to figure out.
8. The Ecomstation demo CD will not boot. It's ok on another machine. There was some talk among our clients that they still wanted a supported OS/2 that's why we gave ECS demo a try. The same CD does work on any machine when directly booted. Update 10/12/06: Still does not work on 2.2 but regular ECS 1.2R DOES install even though demo does not boot.
FIXED:
9. Very minor but noticed when we use the SU command for instance after an install, you cannot start Parallels in that session. It must be a non-SU session. Fixed 10/11 in 2.2 official release.

We are evaluating Parallels and ran into problems that thought should be listed for you. We had to use 2.2 since 2.1 does not install on Suse 10.1. We struggled for hours before finding your forum with a post about this. We ran into these 2.2 issues during evaluation:
We are really excited about seeing this work since it seems it would be a perfect solution for our clients. We hope your tech team solves these problems which will allow us to move forward. In the meantime we will continue to test by installing and testing the OS/2 apps required. We are in the mainframe business and only want to build a sample of a turnkey solution that we can provide clients so they can run new Linux apps and old OS/2 apps side by side in the most cost effective way.
