2.1 Beta 4 - Still high CPU Usage when idle

Ok just downloaded Beta 4 - Restart OSX, Remove/Reinstall Tools

I am still seeing high CPU untalization

When VM Paused about 8%
When VM Idle about 38%

MacBook Pro 2.0 2 GB RAM

Is this just me ?

 

1. Do you have some video changes in guest OS - may be some site is opened with flash? Or just pure guest OS with no apps?
2. Try to check CPU usage in guest OS (task manager in Win or top in Lin). What is it reporting?

 

Task Manager System Idle 99%

Nothing else running.
The machine does have antivirus software and it does have Novell and it is joined to a Domain but the System idle Processes in Task Manager is at 99%


I just tested with a base XPSP2 OS and the system idled at about 8% and dropped to less thatn 1% when paused.

My question is why are we seeing 8% when paused with the loaded machine ??

 

Have you checked for malware spyware?

 

Most probably these 8% is used for screen updates tracking. In "pause" mode screen updates are suspended.

We'll think about how these 8% can be lowered.
